I said, “The only way I can play someone this hard is for something to be peeled away each week, and the first thing that needs to go is the wig.” I just wanted to deal with her hair. It’s a big thing with African-American women…You start when you’re just a young girl. Do you twist it? Do you leave it natural when it’s so hard to take care of? Then you start wearing wigs but every night before bed you’ve got to take the wig off and deal with your hair underneath. And it’s a part of Annalise that I needed the writers to deal with because I’ve never seen it, ever, on TV and I thought it would be very powerful. It’s part of her mask. - Viola Davis (x)

bless her

this is so amazingly powerful. hollywood execs and producers—this is CHANGE.

Just really, really sad…

…my sister will be laying her son to rest on tomorrow; I don’t know…it just seems like I’ve been psychopathically numb to all of this until now.

I just got off the phone with her; and it’s falling on me like infinite tons of weight. I can’t even begin to know how she feels (and neither do I want to ever experience what she’s feeling now).

He was shot in an attempt to halt an armed robbery…tragic end to a very young life - a result of a senseless crime; not only was my nephew the victim - all of my family members are victims. Gone too, too soon!

I feel lonely and helpless because I can’t help her - - I can’t get my nephew back…It HURTS - LIKE HELL! I post this because I need strength, your thoughts, your prayers. If I need them, the Lord knows my sister, my parents, and my entire family does!

lol im watching this last episode of scandal how olivia supposed to be this strong black woman but this white nigga can break her down with the snap of a finger

She does the same to him and he’s the president. Being able to break a man down and build him up is one of many hallmarks of great, strong women.

People are always complaining about how Scandal apparently makes black women look bad or weak because a black female character is in love with a man who is white, while deliberately ignoring the equal (maybe even greater) effect that said black woman has on said white man.  He literally “almost died” without her and he told her that flat out.

letspurpleme said:  Hello, Redorkulous, I hope your week is going well.  I like tonight’s episode, but I thought the scene between Fitz and Olivia should have been longer.  Fitz did have every right to be mad but they have to work through their issues!  I have to admit when Fitz grabbed Liv I had problems breathing myself!  Yea, I missed the man too ;)  Tom and Jake, any bets?  I am going to keep hope alive for Tom.  How do you see this playing out?  Liv suspects Daddy Pope.  How is she going to convince Fitz it was her dad?  Oh, the drama!  Let me know how you see it.
